Meet Dr. Jon Kohler

Dr. Jon Kohler was born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Bethel Park. At a young age he moved away to Toledo, Ohio, but he always remained a Pittsburgher (and a devoted Steelers fan) at heart.

Following high school, Dr. Kohler graduated from the University of Dayton before enrolling in the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school in 2000, he did a one-year general practice residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He then went on to work as an associate dentist for a practice in the North Hills for a year and a half, before purchasing a dental practice of his own in Bellevue in January 2003. He purchased a second Bellevue practice in November 2006 and merged the two into one.

Today, in addition to running his Bellevue practice, Dr. Kohler remains on the faculty at Pitt’s dental school, where he is currently an associate professor of the restorative dentistry department. He has taught dental students pre-clinical classes and has also instructed students inside the clinic itself. Dr. Kohler has also conducted oral health education programs for several local grade schools and high schools. Currently, he is teaching for the AEGD residency program and serving as head of Practice Management Curriculum for AEGD residents.

Although he maintains a hectic schedule, Dr. Kohler always has a smile on his face. He truly enjoys every minute of it. He has a passion for dental care and for educating others on how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. In what little free time he has, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Christie, and their two children, Anna and Sam.
